If you are here, chances are you have purchased a tomato plant from us. So here is the information you will need to make the most of this delicious fruit/vegetable!
Tomatoes originate from the Mediterrainian, so the more sun, the better! They also require good drainage.
While there are thousands of tomato varieties, the plant "habit" or way that they grow comes in 2 types: Determinate and Indeterminate.
Determinate Varieties are plants which grow to a certain height and then stop. Usually this can be anywhere from 3 to as much as 6 or 7 feet. Indeterminate varieties grow continually until killed by frost or some other cause. Thhis can mean that if your growing season is long enough, the plant can exceed 8 feet and will require staking. In either case, staking is usually beneficial when plants exceed 4 feet or so, in order to keep the plants off the ground and prevent the fruit from rotting.
Following a consistant watering schedule and ensuring maximum sun and warmth should ensure a bountiful harvest. Happy growing!!

Watering: Water thoroughly when soil surface becomes dry (approximately once every 1-2 days).
Fertilization: Not an absolute must, but for a more abundant harvest, apply organic fertilizer (such as kelp or compost tea) about once a month.
Transplanting: To grow larger plants, you may want to transplant into a bigger pot. The bigger the pot, usually the larger the tomato plant will grow. For a stronger root system, pinch off bottom leaves before transplanting and burry up past where leaves have been pinched.
