Principle # 10: Use and Value Diversity

Diversity reduces vulnerability to a variety of threats and takes advantage of the unique role each element plays in the environment in which it resides.

For example when we plant a whole orchard of apples, we invite pests in large numbers, whereas if we intermix multiple species of plants, pests are less likely to notice and even if they do, are less likely to spread.
