Chop 'n Drop

Chop n' Drop can be described as cutting down plants and laying them on the soil, allowing them to eventually decompose in order to form rich, nutrient-dense soil. Over time more and more layers are created, with the deeper ones nearly transformed into soil, while the upper, relatively newer layers double as a mulch, preventing water loss. See also green manure.
