Wildwood Garden
This is the meeting place to begin our tour. Construction of the unique and eye-catching Wildwood Garden began in the spring of 2012. The permacultured site has been heralded for many 'firsts' in Calgary and has since received multiple awards and grants for its construction and design. More and more new elements are added to the site each year with a water spiral which saw its completion at the end of August 2014.

Stop # 2: The Concrete Jungle
The name itself is misleading--a 'concrete jungle' is what this home's yard once was. A former R.V. pad turned into a permaculture oasis! The home of Sarah and Tim Haney has seen big transformations over the past few years and continues with new additions every spring including a greenhouse with solar-heated shower, wicking beds, worm compost, an extensive global bucket collection, and nearly every edible plant that can grow in Calgary's harsh climate.

Stop # 3 The ContainR
Made from retrofitted shipping containers placed like legos across a vacant, unused tract of land in Sunnyside, The ContainR is a place-making venture presents a different picture of what embodies Calgary culture. The project is still in its initial stages of development, but proposes such elements as art studios, hands-on workshops, a library a pop-up stage and a bar and lounge area and a place where people of all walks of life can congregate and connect with each other in meaningful ways. So far the venue has played host to a number of cultural festivities and continues with “The Sunnyside of Afrikadey”, “Bike-In Movie Night” and “Tango Molonga Dance” just to name a few.
